    Surakarta Palaces (From Indonesia) Is The Cultural Heritage Of Southeast Asia

    Kasunan Surakarta Palace, is one of Indonesia's cultural heritage. Many tourist from domestic and International  was visited the Surakarta palaces.

    Karaton Surakarta in History

    Actually, this is the Palace "Palaces Kartasura". Damaged condition of the Palace caused ofe war, the King decided to look for a place to set up the castle.

    After much deliberation, finally, They choosed Sala village to build the Palace, which is in the area Kartasura. So this is called the Palace Palaces Surakarta Sultanate.

    Sri Paduka Pakubuwono edict XII on 1 September 1945, declared that the Surakarta palace compound as  "Empire State"  and also a special area, behind the government of the Republic of Indonesia.

    Every building in this Palace has a symbolic meaning and describe the journey of human life from birth to get back to its creator.

    Hereby, I will try to combine the information of trip to the Palace of Surakarta (which I passed) with what Gusti Ratu Kanjeng Wandansari said to the Asean Blogger Festival Participant.

    1. Gladhag (Entrance Royal Palaces)
    Gladhag  has symbolic "To remind the people that will enter the life path of Completeness",  which should be done first is  "Self Controll"

    2.Alun- ALun Lor (North) 

     In  Alun- ALun Lor (North side) we can see the Twin Banyan Tree. West Banyan Tree named  Waringin Godeg (men) and Waringin Wok (female). It is a symbol of "God created man and woman so that any man in the world"

    Believe it or not, base on myths said (The information that I Got from a friend who lived in this area), if there is people walking but closed the eyes to the gap towards the middle of the two trees, He/She is a Sincere Person.

    1. Sasana Sumewa Building

     Sasana Sumewa Building ( Outside and Inside), 12 May 2013
    The building is quite large spacious and open with a lot of the pillars in his room. Sumewa Sasana function that is associated with his name; Sasana which means "Place", Sumewa meaning is "Facing".
    Sasana Sumewa a gathering place for the servants who called "Abdi Dalem"  which will be to the king, therefore this building is quite extensive.

    This room is used for exchanging ideas, opinions, and also discuss the legislation that will be created. The building also allows King to meet alone with his people. The function and meaning of the manifest form and space that can accommodate a large number of those who will use the building.

    The building is very close to Gladhag (The entrance to the Palace of Surakarta) and Alun-Alun Lor (North).

    Back to the "Sasana Sumewa Building"

    In this building we can find the Musicians Ward (Bangsal Pangrawit) . This is a special place for the king to see a variety of performances, ceremonies. This place is also where the king see his people directly.

    2. Kori Wijil

    Kori Wijil a border between buildings "Sasana Sumewa" with Sitihinggil Binoto Waroto. Compared with SasonoSumewo lay of the land, Kori Wijil higher and  using the stairs to get there.

    The symbolic meaning of Kori Wijil is:
    "Quit or birth; whereby a person who has reached the level of physical and spiritual balance, will be reborn into a more sublime and higher than men in general.

    3. Siti Hinggil
    Siti Hinggil

    Inner meaning is "When you get to Siti Hinggil symbolizes man was able to carry out the demands of life".
    Siti Hinggil describe a person move to a higher level, reached certain maturity level of the age, and soul. That way, it's more mature man can resist their emotions, and more peaceful.

    In this building area, we can  found Sewana and Mangoentoertangkil Wards.

     Sewana and Mangoentoertangkil Ward

    1. Sewana Ward

    Siti Hinggil largest ward is named Ward Sewana and the position is in the middle of the building

    Inside the ward, other wards are called "wards Mangoentoertangkil".

    2. Mangoentoertangkil Ward
    There are For  pole propped Mangoentoertangkil wards. This is the place for King, In the ceremony. In the midst of this ward, there are stone relics of royal heritage Jenggala which at the time was a "Seat" of  Prabu Suryowiseso.

    3. Witono Ward

    Behind Manoentoertangkil Wards, there is  a large open Wards (called: Witono)
    The ward is home to the courtiers, dancers and those who carry ceremonial needs. Actually there are wards on the left side and the right side of this Sewana Ward, but because there is no time, we had to immediately go to the Inside of Palace.

    4. Kori Kamandungan
     Kori Kamandungan is the entrance to the Inside of Palace. This is the area where every person who will enter the Palace, to prepare themselves physically and mentally, to the king.

    The mystical meaning Kori Kamandungan have symbolic meaning is "a time when human beings should be able to introspect yourself and can humbly honestly assess themselves."
     
    Srimanganti Area

    5. Srimanganti  

    From Kori Kamandungan we entered Srimanganti location.
    This is the place where the king used waiting to welcome special guest, before the welcome entry into the palace.

    On Srimanganti site, there is a door to the Inside of  Palace, which is called Kori Srimangati Lor.

    This door has a symbol of Sri Makuto Rajo that reads "MDC. LXXXX II (in Dutch in 1787)" On the walls of the Left and Right Kori, you can see the symbol of the cotton and rice as a symbol of prosperity and fertility.
    Meaning of Srimanganti is; Everything worldly desires must be removed and be ready to enter into perfection.



    6. Inside Palace

    In Kedahton yard, there are a lot of trees. I Feel the sand grains directly (dark colored) while walking.

    I do not use slippers because, in Kori Kamandungan, I already took off my sandals, to obey the rules. Another time, we had to use a shoes if you want to get into the Inside of Palace, if not, please walk directly touching the sand.
     Actually get into the Palace has special rules, women must use a skirt,There are also rules for men, do not use caps or shorts. From that rules we know that, The Palaces wan to teach the peoples to be more polite, and to remind us that we entered the Royal Palaces, which is full of values ​​and culture.

    In Kedhaton I find a lot of foreign tourists, they're documenting their moments with family at the Palace locations. And We found  the building, which is have a statues with European architectural.

    2. Handrawina Sasana.

    Sasana Handrawina used as an official royal banquet, now used as a seminar and gala dinner or to welcome royal guests, who came to Surakarta.

    Is a privilege for me as a delegate ASEAN Blogger Community, to be present here in the closing ceremony of the Asean Blogger Festival, Solo 12 May 2013.

    I can meet with People Inside of Royal Palaces Surakarta Sultanate, including Kanjeng Gusti Ratu, who shared the history of the Palace and meaning through which the building, if enters the Palace.

    1. Srimpi Sangupati.


    Srimpi Sangupati - Traditional Dance
    This dance is a symbol of "political form, which describes the resistance against Dutch colonial rule. Sangupati as a strategy to defeat the enemy.

    The fourth woman is very brave soldier, in the dance, they serve liquor to the enemy. If the enemy drunk, they will cancel the intention to make a deal.

    Very touched to hear the story of this dance, Palace remind the younger generation, that Surakarta Palace had fight together to gain independence for our Nation from our enemy.






    2. Bandayuda Wireng Dance

    Wireng Bandayuda - Traditional Dance
     Bandayuda Wireng dance is Pakubuwono IV creation, which is this dancer inspired by dance of  Wireng Lawung by Sultan Agung of Mataram. This dance, reflecting the strength of the soldiers training with weapons.

    The male dancer uses a weapon called Bindhi, short stick and a shield to protect themselves from enemies

    Protect yourself, become the core of the dance, when dealing with a variety of human passion, who want to dominate each other.
